When your lifetime investment of that ‘oh-so-hopeful-instantly-rich’ weekly lottery didn’t actually harvest any retirement funds for you, you can still sought for optimistic ending in some method, such as this Hummer. But sadly, this Hummer won’t be able to bring you to the beach when you’re in your sixty. In fact, it will burn itself in the next summer, or when the kids come the next round.
Lauren Was and Adam Eckstrom from the Rhode Island School of Design gathered together thousands of dollars worth of tickets and created amazing sculptures of what the money could’ve actually been spent on. Instead of hoping to win enough money for a lavish holiday or car, gamblers could’ve bought the real thing with the money invested in their hobbies. So, this is yet another proof that you should ‘eco’ for the real thing, instead of trusting on those ‘scam-licious’ lotteries.

Interior designers may come up with hundreds or even thousands or unique designs on bathroom, but nothing could beat this amazing faucet design from Renshui of China. It something that has yet to be done before. They not only redesign the faucet’s typical shape and style, but also incorporate something that’s amazing, touchscreen panel.
This model that won a Red Dot Design Award, packs a touchscreen panel that lets you switch between hot and cold water, or dial in the exact temperature you want – which is, of course, displayed on the faucet itself (it’ll even warn you if the water is getting too hot). But then, I wonder how it works when our hands are soaking wet.

Heeleys have been a hit trend few years ago, but now hardly anyone is cruising around town with them, besides Usher using them for dancing. However, there’s a new kid on the block to play with, when it gets released that is. It’s the motorized shoes from Treadways. Apparently the designer has entered them into the annual James Dyson Awards, and if successful could be put on the market. I sure wan to have a test run on these wheels.
Treadways’ founder Peter Treadway reckons they’re better suited as an alternative to using the car or bus for short-haul journeys. Well depends on the distance, but usually cycling would be a great option. Though, there’s no harm in zipping to the nearest grocery store for an ice cream using a zippy pair of lithium-polymer battery powered attachments that I can fold over my shoes. But I wonder what will happen if it goes crazy. Will I get carried around town like a crazy person?
Alberto Del Biond, an Italian designer who have pledge his loyalty to carbon fiber due to its lightness and depth. I do understand the greatness of carbon fiber, being light and yet durable at some point. But when certain amount of force is applied, it will shatter like glass. An obvious choice if you’re gonna build a car’s chassis. But a toilet bowl? Not only is carbon fiber expensive, but I sure don’t think it is durable for some hardcore plumbing session. What’s more if someone’s gonna squad on top of it? Do not do that, if you don’t want a bleeding butt. The worst thing that you would want when doing your big business is a shattered toilet bowl that you’re sitting on. Also, there’s a cute fact from Gizmodo.
The designer also offers a matching bidet. To all our American readers, according to the Wikipedia: “A bidet is a low-mounted plumbing fixture or type of sink intended for washing the genitalia, inner buttocks, and anus.”

Check out the new USB powered cigarette lighter, where you don’t need any lighter fluid or gas. It is powered by built in rechargeable battery that can be recharged via USB and it works with a pair of nichrome style red hot wires to get your cigarette lighted with a snap. The lighter also features a UV light for identifying counterfeit money. It measures 68 x 25 x 15mm and weighs 46g. More pictures after the break.

Qlocktwo has created a very cool clock, which tells you the time, but not literally. How does “It is half past twelve” sound like when you read your clock? Gone is the tyranny numbers that we are so used to referring when looking at time. Many designers have tried on zillion methods to tell time without the numbers, but this is the 1st time I saw such cool method of telling the time, from a device that looks like an exotic wall portrait, as with the price tag of nearly $1,100.
The Qlocktwo is built with a lacquered wooden body supporting either a satin stainless steel or a polished synthetic glass front surface via eight magnets. Utilizing LED lighting technology, they made reading stress-less to the eye, and keeping the bills low. With a help from a build-in ambient light sensor, the device is able to adjust the brightness of the LED lights to keep away your room from looking like a club with overused neon light settings. Sure looks like a clock that came out from Tron’s universe.
What 160 Brits did with the CDs and DVDs that they collected, was to create CDSea, a view of waterway illustrated using compact disc gathered. Pirated or not, there’s bound to be some interesting content over at Long Knoll Park in Kilmington, England. But I doubt the content can be read under such exposure and abuse, even if you found a method or time to actually go and read all the contents of all the discs. But it still is a shocking view. The illustrated waterway even created optical illusions of disc to me.

Check out this cute video of a robot playing pool. Not totally accurate, but still, its accomplishments are quite amazing. Calculations and process takes slightly longer than usual, but of kush it’s just a robot, not a supercomputer. Done by Team Sharkpool from Willow Garage, the PR2 robot is the result of a week of development. Quite a nifty trick, considering it’s a side project and the time is so short. I might not be a civil engineer or an architect, but don’t you think this bridge is slightly too wacky? It’s called the Pearl River Necklace Bridge. Makes you wonder if it’s joint by pearls. It does look stupid and illogical, but it’s designed to provide a solution to an issue.
This bridge will be connecting Hong Kong and mainland China. But then, the people in Hong Kong drive on the left side of the lane, while in China they drive on the right side. And that’s how they solve this issue, with a wacky and twisted bridge to change the lanes. Though this bridge does look awesome and full of win, I think there’s many other methods to solve this problem, more effectively, more resource saving, and less complicated to look at. Nevertheless, it’ll be a thrill to drive along this bridge.

It’s a bracelet, it’s a watch, yet it’s a computer. Sounds too familiar? Well you haven’t seen it all yet. It’s made of OLED touchscreen, features a miniature holographic projector, has a build-in flexible keyboard, and even let us accesses our social websites. This baby designed by Hiromi Kiriki is due on 2020. Ten years isn’t that far actually.
Few days from now, some 69,000 fans will be screaming out of their lungs in the World Cup 2010, held at South Africa’s Cape Town Stadium. As many of the surrounding residents voiced, they’re concern of the immersed sound coming from the stadium during the event, thus some clever engineers from Germany answered their call by integrating some marvelous design into this stadium.
The open-air stadium which sits at Cape Town’s tiny Green Point neighborhood is known as a soundproof stadium. A very weird nickname for a stadium isn’t it? But it just does as it is known. Engineers from Schlaich Bergermann placed some half-inch thick glass panels on top of the 398,265 square-foot roof, hold by some fiberglass and Teflon mesh to support the glass, forming a ring-like roof on top of the stadium. The results showed that the crowd’s roar will be reflected back onto the field, giving them the spiritual encouragement while preventing the massive roar from leaking out of the stadium.
This marvelous set of knives, created by Mia Schmallehbach, features a brilliant design allowing for four different types of kitchen knives stack onto each other, saving space and also creating a beautiful masterpiece at the same time.
The set contains a paring knife, a carving knife, a chef’s knife, and a filleting knife all stack inside on a single block of steel. Apparently this design of each knife stacking to each other is determined by the Fibonacci sequence, making the proportions looks accurate and perfect.

The flexible arm that is lifted from ground is made of adjustable nylon – silicon material. Once it is powered up, the frame adjusts its height according to the user, and then stiffens like a backbone. I wonder do we need to take ballet in order to know how to use it. Better not let the kids use it, or your bathroom will be a mess! Besides, isn’t that girl more of a gymnast instead of a ballet dancer?
