Not a normal HDD, not yet an SSD killer.

Seagate has just announced their latest addition to 2.5inch HDD. The hybrid Momentus XT HDD is the world fastest in 2.5inch, and cost only a fraction over USD100.

This new beast is a hybrid, as it incorporates traditional mechanical hard disks with 4GB of SSD and 32MB of DDR3 all fused together. The results are astonishing. It is 80 percent faster than conventional 7,200rpm HDD; and 100 percent faster than 5,400rpm HDD. The Momentus XT literally surpass traditional HDD in all tests run by Overclockers Club.

Team Group Incorporation is introducing its new x101 USB 3.0 memory drive. It measures 90mm x 23mm x 13mm and weighs 8 grams. This USB 3.0 device provides a transfer speed of 5Gbps which is ten times faster than the old USB 2.0. The X101 USB drive is available in 32GB, 64Gb and 128GB of storage and support multiple operating systems. No word on pricing and availability.

Stealth HD Bio

MXI Security has released a biometric USB hard drive called the Stealth HD Bio. It is equipped with the AES 256-bit CBC hardware encryption for portable data security. It is powered by the Bluefly Security Processor with FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validated and comes with a fingerprint scanner that strengthen the security of the drive. The Stealth HD Bio is available in 250GB, 320GB and 500GB of storage capacities. No word on pricing and availability.

Each of them comes with a 3-dimensional imprint pattern made using the IMF (In-Mold Foil) technology. It features a scratch resistant casing, USB 2.0 and available in two different capacities, the 320GB and 500GB. For the pricing and release date, they have not announced.
