Posted on 12:37 by Unknown

So here’s the latest news about the Apple iOS 7, it says that Apple is going to launched there completely redesigned iOS 7 with the upcoming iPhone 5S. It will hit the store on the late Q2 or early Q3. They might feature all-new Mission Control, Social Hub, Notification Center, and more.

“With the Worldwide Developer Conference looming just months away, all eyes are on iOS 7, and according to Daring Fireball’s John Gruber, the push to meet its development targets is requiring the company to repurpose resources from the OS X team. Ive is reportedly pushing a more modern, “flat” design for the next installment of Apple’s mobile OS.”

Three versions of iPad 2 for 2011?

Posted on 00:34 by Unknown

Not sizes, but features at least. Currently there are two versions of iPad being released, a WiFi-only and a WiFi + 3G. Now, sources close to industry stated that Apple will be adding CDMA into that lineup. That means we’ll see iPad 2 in Wi-Fi, UMTS, and CDMA. Apple will ship about 500,000-530,000 units to channels in January with shipment ratio of Wi-Fi, UMTS and CDMA models at 3:4:3, according to industry sources, citing upstream component makers.

“The sources pointed out that about 60-65% of current iPad shipments are 3G models, indicating that consumers prefer models that are able to connect to the Internet all the time, therefore Apple is aiming to work even more closely with telecom carriers by offering more wireless solutions for iPad 2 to satisfy market demand.”

Besides adding CDMA, the source also stated Apple working on improving the glass panel of the iPad 2 for better anti-smudge and anti-reflective treatments, to probably give a fight against Kindle and gain ahead in the tablet market. How about considering Gorilla Glass, Apple?

“Since Apple’s upstream supply chain is estimated to ship about 16 million iPads in 2010, the sources expects about 2-3 million iPad units of inventory will remain in the channel rolling over into 2011. Since Apple will gradually stop the production of iPad after January and launch iPad 2 by the end of the first quarter or the beginning of the second, the remaining iPad inventory should be able to satisfy demand during that period of time.”

Now, what about the capacity memory options? If Apple keeps up with the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB options, that’s about nine versions of iPad 2 to be manufactured.

Apple wants to ship 65 million iPads in 2011

Posted on 00:31 by Unknown

Yes, that’s a very massive number. Though they didn’t really mention if that’s the original iPad or the new iPad as nobody mentioned about it, and the size are still the same. There’s also no mention of what type of panel are Apple ordering. Digitimes receives this number from the amount of LCD orders Cupertino ordered. Insiders has said that LG Display is asked to ship about 35 million of the tablet’s displays, but the original iPad’s sales was not that promising due to LG unable to cope with the massive demand. So for 2011 Samsung and Chimei Innolux are said to contribute some to Apple. Besides the 35 million from LG Display, each of the other two companies is said to deliver about 15 million of their own to Apple. Over-confidence and over-commitment from Apple?

Apple shipped about 16.76 million iPads in 2010, which is the first year the popular tablet is introduced. November alone saw 2.7 million iPad displays for Apple from LG and Samsung. These numbers are not constructive but it’s still a good estimation. Compared to the 65 million that Apple requested, this is still a very big bump.

Then again, the iPad’s introduction to foreign countries was rather slow, as Apple had to establish a market in every country. Seeing the trend of the iPhone when it was launched and compared it to the iPhone’s current market, Apple is probably trying to avoid having short supply cutting sales down. Apple is also famous for ordering large chunk of flash memory which will pull down prices significantly when buying in extremely huge bulk. It’s also a fail-safe strategy to avoid surprise defect of a certain component from a specific manufacturers, which is common in the industry.

If the estimates are close to Apple’s actual shipping goals, it could help the iPad lead the tablet market for longer than thought. Analyst guesses have had Apple shipping roughly 40 million iPads in 2011, and delivering almost two thirds more could keep it the market leader if Android and BlackBerry PlayBook tablets don’t keep pace.

iPad free engraving goes live

Posted on 01:08 by Unknown

Alright, it’s finally here boys and girls. Apple has now officially offers free engraving for its iPad 3G and WiFi models, just like their iPod lineups. That’s conveniently just in time for the holidays. That will change the shipping time from 24 hours to one to three business days, however, so make that message count. The lovely gift box from Apple will also come handily.

Logitech recharge your iPod/iPhone while blasting you with 8 speakers.

Posted on 01:50 by Unknown

Yes, another day another iPod/iPhone speaker docks. But this S715i is from Logitech, not your cheapo China-brand plasticky speaker with a cheap connector to connect to your iPod or iPhone. Now Logitech’s not planning to sell them as some normal speaker dock. They’re persuading you that this thing “sounds like a beast”. Maybe the speaker roars instead of singing. But with 8 custom-designed, laser-tuned speaker drivers that deliver “next generation”, “professionally tuned acoustics” capable of “filling a room” with “bold sound”, I guess it can really roar. Because the brand’s reputable, therefore Logitech’s throwing an extra 8-hour rechargeable battery. But other than that, it’s still a speaker. There’s nothing wrong for you to give out a sceptical face, but for $149.99, this speaker REALLY is not your typical China-brand speaker that bleeds every time you blast Lady Gaga’s song.

The Joule Stand sets a new standard for iPad accessories

Posted on 03:47 by Unknown

One look at this iPad stand and you’ll get the feel of ‘class’ and ‘luxury’ with it. Mixing technology luxury with aluminium-ware glory, the joule stand is made of solid aluminium bricks, like the unibody iPad and MacBooks. Customers have a choice of chrome or anodized black finishes. It has a magnetically-attached tilt foot to easily change the viewing angle, rubber pads for grip, and a velvet-lined recess to avoid the iPad from being scratched. But of course, the price of $129 is somewhat ‘justified’ for the unibody aluminium build.

The Compass iPad stand lets you use your iPad in multiple angles

Posted on 03:44 by Unknown

Love the iPad Joule Stand but hated the price to death? Here’s a cheaper that might just suit you nicely, though not as majestic as the former choice. The Twelvesouth’s Compass iPad Stand gives you flexible viewing angles and portability at a reasonable price. It’s lighter compared to the unibody aluminum of the Joule, and is portable because you can actually fold it and put it in any pocket of your bag. The only doubt that I have would be how solid it can be, but being only $40, it sure is a better choice.

Posted on 01:13 by Unknown

Nope, there’s no joke over here. These balls can really save your iPad some scars. The iBallz consist of 4 soft balls that can be locked on 4 corners of your iPad, and act like a cushion during dropping impact. From the looks and idea, it sure does work.

iPad and Apad unboxing

Posted on 08:05 by Unknown

Hey guys, I got one 16GB Wifi + 3G Apple iPad and a Android powered Apad tablet. So let’s take a look at both of them. In the pictures you will see that the Apad is much smaller than the iPad. As for me, Apad is not even 10% of iPad, that’s why it is cheap. But Apad it is good enough to be a media player. But if they can improve it, that’s quite a good device.

Artefact re-streams Flash to your iPad

Posted on 09:40 by Unknown

Despite Steve Jobs’s effort to not allow Flash to be integrated into iPads, some groups of people have been trying hard to make Flash runs on their iPads. Previously we’ve seen Smokescreen, a browser plug-in which converts flash into JavaScript-like materials so that it runs on iPad. Now some programmers over at Artefact Groups have work on another method to run Flash on iPad. It’s called “Flash in a Pinch”.

It’s still in early development stage right now, but still workable as an idea. The idea is to re-host the Flash on Artefact’s servers, which will render Flash SWF to work on Safari. Interactions between those Flash will be sent among the server and the iPad, which actually kind of slows down the actions and eating a lot of bandwidth on the way, which makes it rather slow and inconvenience. But it is still a good start. You can view the “iPad in a Pinch” working in the video, as well as the slowness of it.

Oh how ‘cute’ the world has become, from iShirt to i-Newspaper.

Posted on 00:06 by Unknown

How the Japanese think, we will never know for sure. Yet this ingenious trick proves very effective in some way, yet not always. It’s the best way to hide your iPad, which you shamefully buy, and use at the subway.

The pouch (I assume it’s a pouch) is good in hiding your sophisticated and high-tech status from those who are not that technologically accepting unlike us. Yet I assume those standing at the back should be very technologically accepting that those standing in front of the user. So I guess someone would scream out “He’s been on that same page for 4 stops now!”

The Merlions love iPad.

Posted on 23:55 by Unknown

SINGAPORE is one of the most iPad-crazy countries in the world outside of the States, judging by data collected from auction website eBay.

This is based on per-capita terms, and the country is the fifth-largest buyer of Apple iPad tablets from the United States – via eBay – based on sales figures posted by an eBay senior manager on technology blog The Next Web.

Singapore is ahead of other Asia-Pacific countries tracked by eBay for iPad sales from the US, namely Japan, South Korea and Australia. The top buyer of iPads from the US on a per-capita basis is Norway. Since iPad sales started in the US early last month, some enterprising iPad owners in the US have sold their gadgets on eBay. And if we are to refer to this report, the number is quite massive.

Last month, the US is the only country in the world that officially sells the iPad. Sales of the tablet there began on April 3 this year.

However, few days ago, Apple has released the iPad in nine more countries on May 28, including UK, Australia, France, and Japan. Apple said that it will release the iPad in July for another nine markets, including Singapore “officially”.
