Same thing that happened to the netbook, the iPad is enjoying its runaway success in the slate computer market. Not to be left behind, Asus is quick to introduce their own version of the pad-thing. Dubbed the EeePad EP121, this pad is running on Windows Embedded Compact 7, and comes in both 10-inch and 12-inch.
This baby has an Intel Core 2 Duo CULV chip in it, which many predicts 10-hours of juice for this pad to have fun, before it goes to bed. No full spec yet for this EeePad, as we’re waiting for Computex 2010. But things like webcam for video-chat are obvious. Its touch-based user interface lets you easily surf the web, while a webcam allows for video conferencing capabilities. Handwriting recognition is also in, along with an on-screen embedded keyboard if your handwriting is hazardous like mine. There’s also a docking station with keyboard for this pad to act like a nettop system.
The size is also very niche and compact, weighting at 675g and a slim 12.2mm, though not as slim as the iPad. We’ll be expecting more companies unveiling their own version of the iPad this coming Computex. Stay tuned folks.
